IMPROVING YOUR GAME

Research shows that vision accounts for 80% of an athlete’s sensory input. This is why it is important to train an athlete’s visual system to improve sport performance. An athlete with 20/20 vision does not mean they are performing their highest ability as sport performance relies also on hand-eye coordination, reaction time, and depth perception.

Coming to Vaughan Optometry in 2025, sports vision assessments can be conducted to evaluate your visual strength and areas of improvement to maximize your sport performance. A customized vision therapy program is designed with your athletic goals in mind.

SHARPENING VISUAL SKILLS FOR PEAK PERFORMANCE

Along with strength training, proper nutrition, and sleep, we believe sports vision training is key in helping you reach your peak performance in sports. Certain visual skills can be improved and enhanced, allowing you to gain a competitive edge over your opponents. Sports vision therapy can improve the following athletic skills:

  • Hand-eye Coordination - coordinate with the body’s motor skills
  • Visual Tracking & Dynamic Visual Acuity - seeing & following moving objects
  • Depth Perception - to identify the travel speed and location of a ball or person
  • Reaction Time - the speed at which athletes respond to sudden changes
  • Peripheral Vision Awareness - wider field of view
  • Concentration & Visual Memory - staying focused to minimize distractions
